Details:
The orienteering meet at Arie Crown will be somewhat different
from our standard meets but will surely be a blast. This event will
be a 75 Minute Score Meet. There will be approximately 30 controls
located in the forest and trails. The participants will have 1 hour
and 15 minutes to collect as many points as possible. The harder
a control is to get, the more points it will be worth, with the
easiest worth 1 point and the most challenging worth 3. The point
value will be indicated on the clue sheet. Bring a watch to keep
track of the time—there is a three point per minute
penalty for going over the time limit.
Pre-register in order to receive
a pre-marked map; if you register day-of, you'll need to allow time
for copying controls from the master map to your map.
E-Punch will be used for tracking official results. If you do not
want to use e-Punch, you will be responsible for tracking your own
time and reporting your score (honor system).
Directions:
Take I-55 (Stevenson Expwy.) 13 miles southwest of the Loop. Exit
at LaGrange Road (aka US-45, Exit 279B), and go north about a half mile
to the northern entrance to the forest preserve on your left. Look
for the orange and white orienteering signs to direct you to the
registration area.
Public Transportation:
Take the Metra train from Union Station which leaves at 9:30 a.m.
Get off at La Grange Road and walk or bike south to the forest preserve
(4 miles walk/bike).
