Details:
On Sunday, May 1st, we will be holding our meet on a brand-new map
at the historic St. James Farm in Warrenville. You can find out
more about this unique venue at http://dupageforest.org/Conservation/Forest_Preserves/St__James_Farm.aspx.
Registration is open until 4/29.
We will have our usual five point-to-point courses (White, Yellow,
Orange, Green and Red) for this event. There will be something for
orienteers of every skill level, from beginners to advanced, to
enjoy. Registration will open shortly.
The Green and Red advanced courses will be of a “long sprint”
variety with numerous controls placed at closer intervals (average
leg length of about 200m), but the total length of the courses being
similar to a normal point-to-point course. We are also adding the
air of an “A-Meet” for advanced orienteers by having
a separate start for Green and Red with their maps only being provided
upon starting. The Red course will also have a map exchange mid-course.
We recommend that Red course participants bring a map case, or purchase
one on-site, for their first map. Their second map to be picked
up at the exchange will already be in a map case.

With this being a new orienteering venue for our club, we encourage
all attendees to review the mapper
notes to get important information about mapping of particular
features and guidelines on restricted areas and other considerations
for this site.
