Details:
On Sunday, May 1st, we will be holding our meet on a brand-new map at the historic St. James Farm in Warrenville. You can find out more about this unique venue at http://dupageforest.org/Conservation/Forest_Preserves/St__James_Farm.aspx. Registration is open until 4/29.

We will have our usual five point-to-point courses (White, Yellow, Orange, Green and Red) for this event. There will be something for orienteers of every skill level, from beginners to advanced, to enjoy. Registration will open shortly.

The Green and Red advanced courses will be of a “long sprint” variety with numerous controls placed at closer intervals (average leg length of about 200m), but the total length of the courses being similar to a normal point-to-point course. We are also adding the air of an “A-Meet” for advanced orienteers by having a separate start for Green and Red with their maps only being provided upon starting. The Red course will also have a map exchange mid-course. We recommend that Red course participants bring a map case, or purchase one on-site, for their first map. Their second map to be picked up at the exchange will already be in a map case.

Important Information
Please note that all attendees must use the Hoy Avenue entrance and park in a designated field near the Pavilion. Hoy Avenue can be accessed via Madison Street off of Butterfield Road (IL 56). Please see the following map for directions to the entrance and parking. Please also note that you must cross the Illinois Prairie Path as you enter the St. James Farm property. Proceed with caution and be alert for cyclists and other path users.

With this being a new orienteering venue for our club, we encourage all attendees to review the mapper notes to get important information about mapping of particular features and guidelines on restricted areas and other considerations for this site.

Directions:
St. James Farm is bordered by Winfield Road on the west and Butterfield Road (IL 56) on the south. Entrance to St. James Farm for this event must be through the Hoy Avenue entrance. Hoy Avenue can be accessed via Madison Street off of Butterfield Road. Please see the following map [link to map] for directions to the entrance and parking.

Public Transportation:
Consider taking your bicycle on the Metra and biking to the preserve. Union Pacific West Line Metra train departs Ogilvie Transportation Center in Chicago at 8:40am. Disembark at the Wheaton stop. The Illinois Prairie Path is just west of the Wheaton Metra station running south along Carlton Ave. The IPP leads right to St. James Farm about 4 miles each way.
