IMPORTANT UPDATE:

There is a road bike race that involves the closure of every road bounding the Palos map. Archer Ave., 104th Ave., and 107th St are all closed tomorrow from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

http://intelligentsiacup.com/schedule/willow-springs/

The only way to get to the start at Pulaski Woods is to take 95th Street west from Lagrange Rd (Rt 45). I would also expect some delays crossing 104th Ave (Flavin Rd) at 95th St.

I see that there is a set of races that start at 9 a.m., at set at 10:40 a.m., and a set at 12:30 p.m.

Please plan accordingly. I look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

The start will be at the Pulaski Woods shelter on Wolf Ave, south of 95th St in Willow Springs. You'll need your own bike and helmet. No water will be available on the course, so hydration packs or at least bottle of water are recommended.

Details:
We will be using our map based on the Mountain Bike Orienteering Mapping Specification for this event. All controls will be along trails, no need to dismount bike, but not necessarily in locations convenient for "drive-by" punching. Participants are responsible for their own trail safety, as well as being courteous to other users of the trail (don't block the trail to punch the control). All riders must wear a helmet. There will be no water available on the course, so plan to bring a hydration system or water bottle(s).

There will be three mountain biking courses to choose from -- short, medium, and long. The short course will be about 5km, the medium course will be 8km, and the long course about 11 km.

Note that the schedule is an hour earlier than normal to help beat some of the heat.

This event is subject to weather condtions -- if there is enough rain to make the trails muddy, the event will be canceled. If there is rain a day or two before the event, please check the website for any last minute updates before heading out to Palos.

Registration is open thru 9.a.m Saturday 7/15. The event is included in the Season Pass, no special sign-up required.

All riders, bring your own bike -- no rentals available.

Directions:
From the Stevenson Expwy (I-55) take LaGrange Road - South (Hwy 45) across the river and exit on Archer Avenue to the southwest. Continue for 3 miles and turn left onto 95th street. After entering the forest preserve, turn right on Wolf Road and follow it south. Take the second right to Pulaski Woods grove 1. Look for orange-and-white orienteering signs!
