Spring Has Arrived in Waterfall
Glen
March 28, 2004
A gloriously warm spring day for over 220 Chicago-area folks
to enjoy orienteering! Clouds threatened increasingly as the day
progressed, but the rain held off until after all participants
had finished and the controls were picked up.
People reported seeing
deer and even turkeys, while the peepers in and around the ponds
were deafening. We apologize that a control stolen early from
the white and yellow courses caused the 'early birds' (names marked
with asterisk) to spend a lot of time seeking without finding.
Thanks to Jim Marshall for superb beginner training: they all
found
their way around the courses, despite the missing control.
We appreciate the help of Polina Savchenko, Viktor Nikolenko, Tom
Lok, Tom Braid,
Chuck Clark, Alex Kirpichonak and others who pitched in before
or after their runs to help with registration, start and finish.
Much gratitude to Rich Gaylord, Charlie Shabazian, and Tom
Favale
for control pick up.
See you next week at Arie Crown!
