Although the morning temperature started out at 29 degrees, the clear,
sunny skies helped the temperature reach into the sixties by late
afternoon—beautiful weather for orienteering! We had nearly
150 different groups
come out to take advantage of the sun, fresh air, and exciting
orienteering courses. The Memory-O was a success (although next
time we'll put "Bring
A Compass" in bold) and people took advantage of the full range
of beginner to expert courses.
Special thanks to the volunteers who helped set up, clean up, and keep
things running smoothly all day long—Mark S., Boris T., Erin
E., Ken P., Ken M., Ed B., Kathy B., and Lucy P. We had a lot of
controls out in
the woods—fortunately we had good help in retrieving them in
a timely manner—Charlie S., Clark M., Carl L., Ken M. (again),
Ed B. (again),
Boris T. (again) and Maricel O. collected dozens upon dozens of
controls! And of course, we all appreciate the many hours Jim Gordon
spent designing
the course and setting the controls!
