The new location of this year's Bike-O led to quite a few more
route choices, and some very intricate trails. While not as technical
as some portions of Palos Hills, the trail speeds were generally
much higher. Despite a great deal of rain earlier in the week, and
a brief sprinkle the morning of the meet, the trails were in great
shape.
The historic nature of the location was also fun, as the location
of the former Meadowdale International Speedway.
The map was recently updated to add some brand-new trails, as well
as to remove trails unusable for bikes (folks have clearly been
spending a lot of time and effort to block less distinct trails).
The turn-out was about the same as in previous years. The location
of one control was mis-marked on the map, but most folks didn't
notice the error, as the control was simply further down the same
trail.
We had spectacular weather on the day of the event, with partly-cloudy
skies and comfortable temperatures higher than forecast.
Thanks to everyone who came out, especially to Viktor Nikolenko
for directing the meet, and he and Charlie Shahbazian, Marical Olaru,
Gordon Pearce, Ron Jachim, and Nick Preys for helping with control
pick-up.
