Details:
Plan a journey to the far northwest for a standard meet on Sunday, March 23. We are returning once again to Veteran Acres Park in Crystal Lake. We’ll be offering the standard courses: white, yellow, orange, green and red. In addition, we will have a blue course. For those not faimilar with the standard color coding scheme, white courses are the easiest and targeted to first-timers. Yellow is a slightly more challenging beginner course. Orange is the intermediate and probably the most popular of the course options. The green, red, and blue courses are all considered advanced difficulty but with length increasing from green to red to blue. For this meet, the straight-line distance for green will be 5.0 km, 6.3 km for red, and 8.1 km for blue. The red and blue courses will include a section of the map that we haven't used before, so there is something new for anyone up for the extra distance. There's some marshy terrain on this map section, so you might get your feet wet on red and blue as well.

Special Thanks:
CAOC is especially appreciative of the Crystal Lake Park District and their staff. They are very helpful and easy to work with!

Directions:
Take the Northwest Tollway (I-90) 10 miles west of O'Hare to Roselle Rd. Turn right and go 1 mile north to Algonquin Rd. Turn left and go 13 miles northwest to Route 31 (Main St). Turn right and go 5.7 miles north to Route 176 (Terra Cotta Ave). Turn left and go 1.7 miles west to Walkup Rd. Turn right and go a quarter mile to the parking near the shelter. Watch for the orange-and-white orienteering signs.

Public Transportation:
You can take 5:30 or 6:30 Metra from the Ogilvie Transportation Center to the Crystal Lake station, and walk two blocks north to Veteran Acres. The last train leaves Crystal Lake at 10 p.m. to arrive in Chicago at 11:20.
