President's Column
Carl Larsson, President
The fall season has just started with a very wet Night Orienteering
meet in Veterans' Acres (Crystal Lake) Northwest of Chicago. We
joined around 60 brave souls (some would probably say stupid!) challenging
the weather and Rich Gaylord and Joe Sehnal's excellent course setting.
Some participants made it extra challenging by allowing their maps
to get wet, and literally "wash off" the print from their maps.
I personally thought the evening's event was tough enough without
trying to navigate from a blank piece of paper!
The Club has just launched our new
web site. It is not totally completed yet, (which web site is?)
but with the help of the new Webmaster, Michael Collins, we are
getting very close. We hope that you will find the new site as useful
as our previous site. The main reason we changed is that with our
own URL we will have the ability to increase feedback to the Club
from our members and other visitors to the web site.
I hope you all had a chance to enjoy a few of our local events
last Spring. The combination of well-organized events and great
weather made for record-breaking number of participants; we may
have the same large turnout this Fall. So if you've been a member
for a while, please help welcome these new participants to our sport.
We want to do our best to make sure everyone has a good time Orienteering.
Hope to see you in the woods!
