Congratulations to all who participated in the April 23 orienteering
event – especially the Red runners who walked away with a
Curse of the Goat T-shirt.
The always-popular Busse Woods site attracted 153 teams who enjoyed
a fine day of orienteering weather and an excellent course set
by Maricel Olaru.
Sixteen Red runners earned Goat T-shirts for their hard work.
The Goat allows runners to follow and to skip two controls of their
choice. Most Red runners skipped 14-15 or 2-3. For Red champ, Charlie
Shahbazian, however, the winning combo to skip was 8-9. Most Green
runners skipped 12-13 or 10-11, which was the choice of Green champ
Oded Ovadia. Normally, under the Goat format, you cannot skip consecutive
controls, but we did not make that clear early enough, so we relaxed
that rule.
Thanks to the Jeff Porter and Erin Curley for doing a great job
on registration. And thanks to Rachelle Plante, Henry Plante and
Julie
Olaru for running a smooth timekeeping operation. Finally, thanks
to those who stuck around for control pick-up – Charlie,
Rich Gaylord, Jeff (again) and wife, Valentina S., Maricel and
a couple unidentified orienteers whose names I failed to get. My
apologies.
