On-line registration is open through
midnight FridayNovember 8th. We could use a few volunteers to help
out -- check the volunteer box when registering. You'll still have
time to run the course!
Details:
White and yellow standard courses will be offered for beginners.
For intermediate and advanced orienteerers, there will be a special
training / memory type of orienteering -- come on out and be surprised.
Harms Woods is the wildest and most northern of our three maps along
the North Branch, and is characterized by a large sloping hillside
along the west side of the River that is intercut by a dozen or
more reentrants, white and light-green woods and only a scant trail
system. It is a technically challenging area with many point features
such as depressions, rootstocks, and man-made objects.
Directions(Driving):
Take the Eden's Expwy (I-94) 7.5 miles north (west) of the Kennedy
(I-90) to Exit 35 (Old Orchard Rd). Turn left (west) and continue
forward into the parking area. Watch for the orange-and-white orienteering
signs.
Public Transit:Take the El to the Davis station
in Evanston. Transfer to #208-Golf bus (bus leaves Davis every half
hour starting at 8:43). Get off at the forest preserve and walk
to registration (1/4 mile or less).
