President's column:
What winter training?
Carl Larsson
Spring is here! Even if we might have some additional snow before
it is really spring, a sure sign of spring is that local orienteering
events are starting up again....
I hope your training activity has been better than mine during
the Winter. Due to several minor injuries (that is my story and
I stick to it!) my training volume has for sure not being satisfactory.
I normally prefer to use cross-country skiing to help keep me in
shape during the winter season. But this winter skiing has been
somewhat limited because of the weather and very little snow. Let's
hope this isn't a w trend for future winters!
As you all are aware, this year CAOC is taking on a huge task in
hosting one of the three World Ranking Events (WRE) in the US. And
at the same time the Club will present the U.S. Intercollegiate
Championship. The courses are all designed and the map is in the
process of being printed so we are overall in good shape. There
are a number of functions we need to handle / address both before
and during the weekend of April 27-28th, and anyone who has any
interest in helping out, please notify Clark Maxfield (773-477-0987).
Looking forward to see you all out in the woods!
